Remember, mp3 is a licensable technology, attracting fees, for which Cakewalk is licensed- check out. It intergrates seamlessly into the export workflow and clearly presents configuration options. Rather than being price loaded into individual products, Cakewalk have sensibly made it a one-off, reasonably priced offering $9.99, for all it's products. You'd hope that if it's opensource, it's code is available to public scrutiny and hence no nasties.I now have Cakewalk MP3 Activator. (I think I actually have used that).I've also used - an opensource video/audio multitool.
